Panday however refused to name Maharaj as Acting Prime Minister, during Panday's visits abroad. He also removed important parts of Maharaj's portfolio of Attorney General. This led to Maharaj, together with MPs Trevor Sudama and Ralph Maraj leaving the party.

I removed it as speculative - there has been many claims as to what caused Maharaj et al. to leave the party - this is only one view on the matter. Guettarda 15:09, 10 May 2005 (UTC)[reply]
