Motorway v Freeway
[edit]Please refer to the M7 (which stands for Motorway 7) as a MOTORWAY. In the State of New South Wales, there is distinction between the two. A motorway is a tollroad, while a freeway has no toll (it is FREE). Mattrix18 04:01, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- I must admit that I hadn't noticed the mistake in this article. I think that you'll find that all freeways and tollways in NSW are presently being referred to by the state government as motorways. Seems to be either a consistency thing or a way of de-emphasising the fact that most are tolled. Perhaps we should try to put the end dates for tolling of every tollway in the respective article? --Athol Mullen 04:36, 18 November 2006 (UTC)
- I agree. It is definitely a motorway. Freeways do not have to have no tolls. The Sydney-Newcastle_Freeway and Southern_Freeway previously had tolls and were always freeways. The government stopped calling roads freeways somewhere in the 90's. Robotboy2008 (talk) 04:23, 5 May 2008 (UTC)
- Prior to being called freeways and motorways, they were all expressways. The F3 was an expressway when it was tolled, and was renamed as a freeway after the toll was removed. The Cahill Expressway would have been renamed too, but its name is too entrenched. --Athol Mullen (talk) 12:29, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Australian motorway Westlink M7.jpg
[edit]Image:Australian motorway Westlink M7.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
