It's nice that one of my pubic images was used here, but I must agree with mr crypto, it indeed doesn't depict a suspension. I was actually planning to use the image for describing spreader bars. I'll see if I can rustle up something suitable to show suspension.

Safety

[edit]

Here is the Safety section that I replaced with a Dangers section:

  • avoid suspension from a single limb;
  • refrain from attaching the neck to any bondage, due to the likelihood of death by hanging or slow asphyxiation;
  • refrain from using handcuffs to suspend a person in any way, since they could cut into the limbs, their nerves and blood vessels, causing serious and permanent damage; specially made suspension cuffs are preferred;
  • for full suspension, to tie the supports to as many limbs as possible, and the body, to avoid danger of asphyxiation, blood being unable to reach the limbs, or anything else;
  • and never to leave the person alone for more than a very short time.

Some of this advice strikes me as dubious at best and I don't think Wikipedia should be in the business of giving out how to or even how not to advice on a high risk activity. Pretzelpaws 05:03, 26 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
