While I certainly don't object to the presence of the Liberal Party in this list, I'm still a bit hesitant about including the Democratic Party. My interpretation of "liberal party" would probably require that the party actually have some dedication to liberalism as one of its main policies, but the Democrats have no such commitment — their focus is on social credit, not liberalism, even if they have liberalism included as an afterthought. Moreover, they're not really any more liberal than the Labour Party, the Alliance, or the Greens. There are even strands of the National Party (such as one led by Katherine Rich) which are at least as liberal as the Democrats, and have more direct commitment to the concept. -- Vardion 22:46, 14 Nov 2004 (UTC)
