Signature

[edit]

Are there any reputable sources of Lamarck's signature? I've found this but I am unsure as to its authenticity. --Hands1236Meme (talk) 01:45, 14 September 2017 (UTC)[reply]

A note

[edit]

This article duplicates Lamarck, but there is much more information there. I think we may suppress this one. --FvdP 23:14 Nov 28, 2002 (UTC)

Abbreviations of name as author

[edit]

The article mentions the abbreviation "Lam." What about "Lmk."? And the Catholic Ency says "Lm." is used in zoology. Nurg (talk) 10:07, 10 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Lamarckism or Lamarckianism

[edit]

This article uses the term "Lamarckism" for the theory of evolution that Lamarck put forth, but I thought the term was "Lamarckianism". Vorbee (talk) 08:39, 16 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Lamarckism is by far the more widely used term, familiar from many textbooks and journal articles. Google confirms this experience, giving it about 300,000 hits, of which Scholar finds 25,000; Google finds about 15,000 for Lamarckianism, of which Scholar finds about 2,000.
