The article Binghamton Police Department is almost entirely uncited and largely consists of trivia about the department's uniforms and equipment. Other similar-sized cities in New York do not have a separate page for their police department: compare, for example, Utica, New York or Schenectady, New York. The list of fallen officers should be moved to List of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty in the United States or an appropriate related page, and if any cited and notable facts remain they should be merged here. -Apocheir (talk) 20:55, 24 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

No opposition, so I went through with the merge. I say merge, but there wasn't really anything worth including here. I also removed some trivia from this page about how many employees are in each department, which appear to have not been updated in a decade.
The notability of Binghamton Fire Department is also dubious, but that one at least has some citations. -Apocheir (talk) 18:35, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, redirected Binghamton Fire Department here too. All the noteworthy content there is covered in 1913 Binghamton Factory fire. -Apocheir (talk) 21:46, 3 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Edit warring over unsourced content

[edit]

@UpstateCops: You have twice reverted my edit where I removed the following unsourced content:

Binghamton and its surrounding area also support a variety of youth sports. Major youth sports in the area include football, lacrosse, ice hockey, baseball, basketball.

There is no mention of lacrosse in the article, and nothing to support the rest of the edit as well. Could you please revert your edit, or find a source to support it. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 14:06, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I did not edit-war at all. I've lived in Binghamton for over 20 years. You've continued to target all my contributions personally since you had a minor disagreement with me in the Vestal article. You even went as far to threaten to have me blocked, which you've yet to do. The entire point of my additions were to introduce new information to the "youth sports" sub heading. UpstateCops (talk) 14:48, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
@UpstateCops: Please see WP:USCITIES#Sport, specifically, "do not include amateur teams or semi-pro teams." High school sports teams do not belong on a city article; you are welcome to move your edit to the appropriate school article. Thank you. Magnolia677 (talk) 17:41, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't even add the "youth sports" subheading, somebody else did and I just elaborated on exactly what youth sports are major in this area. You'd need to delete the whole thing then if that is the case. UpstateCops (talk) 18:25, 15 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This would be notable if certain sports are particularly prominent as part of Binghamton's culture, but these are just sports that are generally popular in the US/the northeast region. I am not sure why you would want to add this description. Hikeddeck (talk) 21:21, 5 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
