Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alt.fan.douglas-adams
Alt.fan.douglas-adams was proposed for deletion. This page is an archive of the discussion about the proposed deletion. This page is no longer live. Further comments should be made on the article's talk page rather than here so that this page is preserved as an historic record. The result of the debate was DELETE
The article claims that the newsgroup "is notable for several posts made to the group by Adams himself". I don't think so. Does a forum become notable just because somebody famous posts on it (whether or not the forum is about the poster)? Now, if this attracts great attention from people other than those who frequent the forum, may be, but I don't think this newsgroup is, on the whole, notable to the point that it deserves its own article. Certainly it may deserve a mention somewhere, but a whole article? - Furrykef 13:58, 9 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- That fact should be mentioned in the Douglas Adams article. Delete. —Rory ☺ 16:21, Oct 9, 2004 (UTC)
- Delete. It is now mentioned in the Douglas Adams article. The mention is completely new text written by me, not copied from this article, so there should be no issues with losing the history of this one. [[User:Dpbsmith|Dpbsmith (talk)]] 16:48, 9 Oct 2004 (UTC)

- Delete. Not notable. I hope we don't start seeing other newsgroups listed on Wikipedia. --Improv 19:29, 9 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- mmm see: Category:Newsgroups, some are OK articles. Richard Taylor 03:18, 10 Oct 2004 (UTC)
- There are certainly some vfd candidates in that category. alt.config for one. —Rory ☺ 10:09, Oct 10, 2004 (UTC)
- Not really. The present article on alt.config is too substubby for it to matter whether it's deleted or not, but alt.config itself is quite an interesting newsgroup. [[User:Dpbsmith|Dpbsmith (talk)]] 01:42, 12 Oct 2004 (UTC)
