Hello

[edit]

I've liked your comments on Persian related pages and liked your website as well (I thought I knew them all). I noticed soon after I joined that there's gonna be arguments on basic pages, and that I could be more productive writing new articles. I would value your opinion on the one I've been working on off and on for a few weeks. Its not the problem of too little information, on the contrary. I'm not sure what to add, what to leave out, how to format/organize, how technical to get (with theology, language), etc. There is the problem of lack of local information though. It is currently at agiary but I want to move it to 'Fire Temple'. If you don't check your talk page though it might be long completed by now! Khiradtalk 18:36, 30 September 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Let me know if there is more information on this minor dynasty. I made the article here: Justanid --alidoostzadeh (talk) 02:33, 4 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please vote in survey over whether to have article title Human rights in Iran or Human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran

[edit]
  • 23 November 2007 Sinooher changed the article name from Human rights in Iran to Human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran
  • Koavf changed the article name back to Human rights in Iran 9 March 2008,
  • Crazy Suit changed it back to Human rights in the Islamic Republic of Iran a couple weeks later, 23 March 2008.

We should decide this once and for all and not what the name is as it makes a difference to the wording of the text in the article.

Reza Zia-Ebrahimi moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, Reza Zia-Ebrahimi, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Praxidicae (talk) 15:28, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • By golly mate! It's a biographical entry. Anything I have written is there on the university page and his academia page and also in Reza's podcast interview. What parts need referencing?? You want me to show his birth certificate for his DOB? --BaghdadKavad (talk) 15:48, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Hello BaghdadKavad. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being compensated by a person, group, company or organization to use Wikipedia to promote their interests. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially egregious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat SEO.

Paid advocates are very strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are extremely strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:BaghdadKavad. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=BaghdadKavad|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. Praxidicae (talk) 15:29, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

"Financial Stake"??? I edited two biographical entried of the people I know personally who are historians of their field!!! Who would pay for that. No, I have no financial interests or any compensations received from edits. I am extremely curious as what on earth in my edits might constitute financial stakes? Did I promore a company or something without knowing it myself? --BaghdadKavad (talk) 15:45, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A lot of people pay for this. However, your edits were promotional and not neutral. Can you please also explain how you became the copyright holder and taker of this photo, which I will note you specifically uploaded as own work? Praxidicae (talk) 16:57, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
But promoting scholarship, not a commercial thing! Was there anything commercial that I promoted? It is the page of a scholar, and so yes, I promoted him, but even the link to his book is to the book's Google Books site which is not commercial and just informational (I did not want to link to Amazon!). I am the copyright owner of it because as I said, I know Reza personally and I asked him for it. He knows I am making this page and some of the stuff, such as his Swiss nationality, are actually coming from him. Is that against Wikipedia rules? He gave me the pic and told me that putting it up is fine, and he is an amateur photographer, so my assumption is that he took it! In any case, I did not get paid for this, that is for certain and honestly no need to assume as such either. If you feel talking about a scholar and her/his research and publications is commercial promotion, then I cannot help. Remove it for all I care...--BaghdadKavad (talk) 19:52, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Promotion is promotion, it doesn't matter if you're talking about the beauty of the sand in the Sahara just because you like it or trying to sell male enhancement supplements. You need to disclose as required per WP:COI. Praxidicae (talk) 19:58, 5 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Ok... So, I actually checked and the pic was sent to me via a link, and the link is to Zia-Ebrahimi's public faculty page and the picture is public domain (https://www.kcl.ac.uk/people/reza-zia-ebrahimi)! I will correct the attribution. What else do you want me to address? BaghdadKavad (talk) 11:23, 6 May 2020 (UTC)[reply]

You need to know that Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously. You must not copy and paste text from sources you find on the web into articles as you did in the article Ormus. The infringing text has been removed because the material you copied is subject to copyright, as is almost everything on the web. When creating or expanding articles, you should completely rewrite the information from the source using your own words. Cwmhiraeth (talk) 10:45, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Whatever on earth do you mean by that. I am an experienced contributor and I know what I am doing. I am the author of both the original article to which I reference (www.iranologie.com) which carries my name and is public domain, and the history section of this article. I am not going to paraphrase MYSELF to satisfy anything. Whatever your problem or that of others is with this article, there is no point in accusing me of copyright infringement. I am the copyright holder... Khodadad Rezakhani (BaghdadKavad) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A02:A448:402B:1:9137:4ED9:F204:9771 (talk) 20:06, 9 May 2021 (UTC)[reply]
