San Pablo Avenue
[edit]This avenue parallel with Interstate 80 is independently notable under the name San Pablo Avenue, since that is what it has commonly been known for many decades in the East Bay. State highway number pedantry, which few people in real pay attention to, should be given the amount of attention that reliable sources devote to the numbering of this road. Essentially every reliable source calls it "San Pablo Avenue", and so should Wikipedia. Cullen328 (talk) 06:07, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- Do you have examples of these sources? --Rschen7754 06:17, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- Sure, Rschen7754. This and this and this and this and this and this and this and this and this whole book published by UC Berkeley. I know that it is original research but I have spent a lot of time in the past 50 years driving along San Pablo Avenue and I have had hundreds of customers nearby. Everyone calls it San Pablo Avenue and nobody I have ever met calls it Route 123. Cullen328 (talk) 17:42, 11 September 2022 (UTC)
- See Talk:California State Route 123/Archive 1#Requested move 28 December 2019. My request to rename this article to San Pablo Avenue back then failed. The opposition back then questioned the independent notability of San Pablo Avenue as a whole, and preferred that this article should only be about the segment that is designated as Highway 123.
