From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hi. I don't usually leave welcome messages, but since you've been registered so long, and for some reason the people that usually do haven't noticed, I thought I'd leave a note. Also, I made some changes to the two articles you created, and I wanted to explain them. Cambie Street is a nicely written, encyclopedic article, that adds useful information that wasn't in the article that linked to it, that I mostly did some formatting with. You seem to have general wikification down, but I wanted to point out that it is a Wikipedia standard to highlight the subject of the article (almost always the same as the title). Another change I made was to extend the location description out to the country level, since Wikipedia is intended for a world-wide audience. Finally, I linked back to the RAV line article in case someone lands on the Cambie Street article first and wants to know what a "RAV line" is.

The 1994 Commonwealth Games, however, while accurate, was marked (correctly, for lack of adding any information) as a "speedy deletion" candidate, but I know that having articles a person has started suddenly disappear can be discouraging, and you show such promise that I didn't want that to happen, so I added a few bits I could find to make it into a minimal stub. If you want to continue to expand it, I would recommend that you take a look at some of the other years' Commonwealth Games articles to get ideas of things to add.

Looking at your other contributions, you seem to have interesting, timely info in a number of areas, a good sense of when a redirect is needed (although given Wikipedia's quirky way of dealing with odd capitalizations, "Rav line" would actually help more people find the article), good wiki formatting skills, and very solid English language skills, so I hope you continue to contribute. I don't know if you have seen the tutorial yet; you seem to already be doing much of what it covers, but if you haven't seen it, page 10, especially, has a list of some of the most useful articles about contributing to Wikipedia. I have a more advanced guide in mind, that would be more suitable to your level, but ever since I went back to work I haven't found time to flesh it out. You might be able to pick up a few ideas from what I have so far.

Anyway, here's my version of the standard generic Wikipedia welcome message: Hello, welcome to Wikipedia. Here are some useful links in case you haven't already found them:

If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump, or feel free to ask me on my talk page. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian!

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference

[edit]

Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have enabled.

On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer be able to have them marked as minor by default. For more information on what a minor edit is, see WP:MINOR or feel to get in touch.

Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 20:19, 13 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Willl and grace listed at Redirects for discussion

[edit]

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Willl and grace. Since you had some involvement with the Willl and grace redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. Reyk YO! 14:05, 3 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
