Need help
[edit]I remember reading on the Lost forum about another Oceanic airline website.I can't remember it's address but would like to know if anyone can.It has some very interesting stuff on it.The only thing I can remember about it,is that it had an article on it about subscribing to the Sydney Morning Hearld. You could click on the front pages of the 3 newspapers beside the text. They described how fishermen near Fiji had seen an aircraft resembling an Oceanic flight go down.Oceanic had denied it had lost any of it's aircraft. The newspaper then noted how this incident was very similar to one years previously,in which an Oceanic flight had disappeared and no wreckage was ever found. Can anyone remember this sites URL?It is none of the links listed under this wikipedia article.
No need for help I found it eventually. It has been updated since, but now I am not sure it is an official site so I wont put it's address under the main article. Its address is http://oceanicworldair.com[1]
Removal
[edit]Removed the text 'In Lost, that particular name may or may not have been chosen in order to allow a little in-joke as the Hugo "Hurley" Reyes character is seen at an early point carrying water bottles with the "Oceanic" brand name.' because i wasn't sure waht the 'little in-joke was', and the name was actually choosen because it was a well known, if fictional airline.
Hey, cool that there is a page about this :-) Truly shows that there's nothing not to be not found in Wikipedia! :-)

the mock oceanic website
[edit]Hey, the link to the oceanic website has some interesting stuff in it.
on the main page, there is text underneath the find a flight box. it's a message from "sally" about beng stuck on a an island after a disaster, and wanting word passed to her parents.
- below that is a another message. It isnt signed, but the div title is "robert". This would seem to say that the message is from robert, since "sally"'s message is titled the same way. Should we change the "unknown passenger" wording in the article? -24.42.115.247 06:03, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
if you click find it to look for seats, a chart of an airplane comes up. you can click on the various seats, sometimes one of them turns green and after that when you point to the green box, the name of the passenger comes up. I saw jack, locke and shannon this way. clicking locke broughtup sm images of him. clicking shannon soprt of did that but they flickered. clicking jack changed the image lsightly, it wasn't clickable, but the "official" site was mentioned. then it came back. rose was there to, across the aisle from jack, but her box was red.
i fyou click on pre-flight checkin, there's a set of blue boxes, and Ethan's name spelled out. you can click and drag the letters of his name, but I couldn't get atnything to happen.
the in-flight magazine section mentions coming back week after week to test your brain, and getting secret info from the lost creators, but none of the links there do anything.
{{spoiler}}
- On the airplane seating plan, if you click any seat in the rows 4, 8, 15, 16, 23 or 42 you will unlock the links for Shannon, Boone, Jack, John, the flight marshall and Charlie. Clicking the flickering F next to economy class 11-42 unlocks Ana's link. I couldn't find Rose. If you click on the pre-board check in you are forwarded to the Ethan Rom page. You can rearrange the letters to spell "other man" and it shows you a short clip of Walt being taken.
- My question is, should this information be included on the page, or left for visitors to find by themselves? Alexforcefive 21:13, 13 November 2005 (UTC)
- It might go somewhere (with the spoiler message), but it is off-topic on this page, I think. Jgm 03:19, 11 November 2005 (UTC)
- Just out of interest, who can you get up on the seating plan? I got Shannon, Boone, Marshall, Kate, Charlie, Jack, Ana-Lucia and Rose. That's 8, and considering its one of the numbers that might be all. Has anyone else gotten Hurley, or Walt, Jin, Sun, Michael, Sawyer, etc.? Squidward2602 11:55, 23 November 2005 (UTC)
- I found Sayid's passport via Shannon's link, but it's not fully readable. And the special effect through Jack's link should only be viewed when sober. — ArkansasTraveler 16:20, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
- Ethan Rom's name shoud be re-arranged to read "OTHER MAN" - then you'll access the extra bits. Ananaso 10:45, 23 March 2006 (UTC)
I have found something very big. If you click under that seat table on the numbers by clicking that hurleys numbers you get something new and you are taken to a difrent website.
Something else.
[edit]On the front page of this website there is a bit of an overlap covered by the box with the disclaimer about all flights being canceled. by carefully copying and pasting you get this message asking for help from a "Sally". Interesting, no?
Trivia section
[edit]It seems like the name "trivia" is inappropriate for this section, I suggest the name "various other information" or simply "other information".
Incorrect on Main page
[edit]I didn't change it but I just watched Die Hard 2 again last night and Holly is flying in on Northeast Airlines, not Oceanic.
Info Box Poll
[edit]The logo/info in the info box is exclusive to the Oceanic Airlines depicted in the ABC show Lost, not for the rest of the documented appearances. Since it only applies to one of the entries, I don't think it's appropriate to present it as the official info (even if it is a fictional airline). I think this box should be removed. The link to the Oceanic page in the lost entry is sufficient. Any input is appreciated.--CPitt76 17:53, 23 July 2006 (UTC)
Intro Edits
[edit]The fourth paragraph of this article doesn't sound very encyclopedic. Would someone with a little more knowlege on the content of this paragraph please rework it? The elements of original research within should be removed. CPitt76 03:06, 18 August 2006 (UTC)
Last Resort?
[edit]{{spoiler}}
"The novel Last Resort features Oceanic Airlines as the owner of the 747 that was skyjacked by Iraqi terrorists and crashed into the capitol." -- I can't find any reference to a novel with this title and subject matter in wikipedia, amazon, and loc.org. Can anyone verify it? (Note: Tom Clancy's "Executive Orders" featured a disgruntled Japanese airline pilot crashing into the U.S. Capitol Building, but I don't know the name of the airline.) The list in the article would be better as a timeline, not in alphabetical order
[edit]The list of references in almost useless in alphabetical order99.203.102.153 (talk) 16:17, 23 December 2007 (UTC)
Oceanic Airlines and flight 815 crash
[edit]Is there a real Oceanc Airlines there is a website called http://www.oceanic-air.com/ but it sais All Flights Cancelled! Oceanic Flight 815 crashed on 22 September 2004 all I know is there were only 1 suvivour —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.156.32.168 (talk) 18:47, 11 February 2008 (UTC)
Er no, the airline is completely fictional, and that website you mentioned was created by ABC purely as a promtional gimmick for "Lost." 75.70.123.215 (talk) 20:05, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
Appearance prior to Executive Decision
[edit]Oceanic was used for the series finale of "I Married Dora". The desk at the gate says oceanic while not specifiying airlines or airways as shown in this clip. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VvVR99yafr8 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.105.226.59 (talk) 02:44, 26 May 2009 (UTC)
airline infobox
[edit]This is cute, but I think it qualifies as synthesis and original research. The logo was fine, but citing "facts" (such as fleet size and base cities) for a fictional airline that isn't even used consistently in various productions is not really going to work. Unless someone can explain why it should stay, I am going to remove the infobox information shortly. Jgm (talk) 01:09, 9 July 2009 (UTC)
Pan Am
[edit]The Oceanic Airlines featured in Executive Decision holds some mild distinction between Pan Am and Pan Am flight 103. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.46.234.17 (talk) 15:30, 29 November 2009 (UTC)
Chuck
[edit]I always got the feeling that the Chuck reference was more of a Lost joke, since the flight number is exactly the same. 67.162.113.118 (talk) 20:23, 27 February 2010 (UTC)
First appearance
[edit]The article states:
- The original occurrence of Oceanic Airways was in the 1996 film Executive Decision.
But also:
- Flipper: In the two part episode in season two The Ditching, Sandy and Flipper's plane Oceanic Flight 17 crashes in the sea.
So which is the real first appearance of OA?
87.244.68.10 (talk) 22:37, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
I feel that the first real appearance of Oceanic Airlines was in Executive Decision., as it was most responsible for the airline's proliferation.Tigerdude9 (talk) 16:57, 22 March 2018 (UTC)
See also section
[edit]I added a see also section that pointed to a few other commonly used fictional brands. I assume this won't meet any opposition. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Capitalsown (talk • contribs) 06:13, 20 August 2010 (UTC)
Since the '60s?
[edit]In the lede it says Oceanic is used as early as the 1960s, but then in the body, it says Executive Decision was the "original" use, yet it was clearly not (Oceanic is used in I Married Dora in the 1980s, for example). — al-Shimoni (talk) 16:01, 30 June 2012 (UTC)
The other logo?
[edit]Could someone make the Executive Decision Logo?Graham1973 (talk) 11:01, 15 October 2012 (UTC)
Add a fleet section and table?
[edit]Even though this airline is fictional, should we still add a few fleet section with a table explaining which aircraft that Oceanic Airlines flew? Tigerdude9 (talk) 02:07, 21 March 2018 (UTC)
Image
[edit]A screenshot of the most widespread used images of Oceanic would be good, that of a screenshot of an Oceanic 747 from Executive Decision. -- 70.51.201.106 (talk) 07:41, 14 February 2019 (UTC)
Peter Pan
[edit]There's an Original Research notice for the Appearances section, but I'd be specifically interested in a source for the number 815 being a reference to Peter Pan. I imagine it came from an interview or something similar if it's true. HerrWaus (talk) 19:14, 16 December 2020 (UTC)
