User talk:Mia Goff
Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. You'll have a fun time fixing my few constant spelling errors; 'seperate' instead of 'separate' being one I cannot seem to get my fingers to do right. Hope you like it here: read the help and feel free to ask questions about it all. —Morven 18:48, May 6, 2005 (UTC)
- The general Wikipedia principle is: be bold unless you know it's going to be controversial; and if anyone complains, talk it out and try and get a consensus. (Impossible with some very difficult people, but one should attempt it anyway). Glad you like it here. —Morven 17:57, May 9, 2005 (UTC)
Welcome!
[edit]Welcome!
Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions; I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:
I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Though we all make goofy mistakes, here is what Wikipedia is not. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk pages and vote pages using three tildes, like this: ~~~. Four tildes (~~~~) produces your name and the time stamp. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to see the help pages, add a question to the village pump, or ask me on my Talk page. Happy Wiki-ing! - Sango123 20:11, May 6, 2005 (UTC) |
Naming convention
[edit]Whenever possible, an English name is favored, but a redirect should be made from the scientific name, this policy applies to both plants and animals. The best place to discuss this, however, would be WikiProject Tree of Life. Circeus 18:59, May 9, 2005 (UTC)

[edit]Hello! I noticed that you are a member of WikiProject Plants. Therefore you may be interested in supporting the nomination of Cactus to the Article Improvement Drive. There are woefully few plant articles among the featured articles. Furthermore, Cactus definitely deserves a better article. this is our chance! If you agree, you can suppost the nomination at the AID page. --Chino 05:17, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Hi! I'm serving as the wikipedian-in-residence at the Smithsonian Institution Archives until June! One of my goals as resident, is to work with Wikipedians and staff to improve content on Wikipedia about people who have collections held in the Archives - most of these are scientists who held roles within the Smithsonian and/or federal government. I thought you might like to participate since you are interested in the sciences! Sign up to participate here and dive into articles needing expansion and creation on our to-do list. Feel free to make a request for images or materials at the request page, and of course, if you share your successes at the outcomes page you will receive the SIA barnstar! Thanks for your interest, and I look forward to your participation! Sarah (talk) 00:27, 18 April 2012 (UTC)|} |
