Requests for page protection

Current requests for increase in protection level

[edit]
Request protection of a page, or increasing the protection level

Place requests for new or upgrading pending changes, semi-protection, full protection, move protection, create protection, template editor protection, or upload protection at the BOTTOM of this section. Check the archive of fulfilled and denied requests or, failing that, the page history if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – Nearly every edit on this page has been vandalism, pending changes doesn't seem to be working here. Filmssssssssssss (talk) 21:53, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

Semi-protection: Persistent vandalism – We need indefinite page protection here. An anonymous IP editor has been vandalizing this page from its very beginning. They have removed sourced content in the past, added unsourced material, and so on. I tried to stabilize the situation before, eventually asking for page protection. The page was protected, but in the end, they prevailed. As soon as the protection was lifted, they came back and restored everything to their unsourced version. For almost three years, they have had complete control. They are still active now. It seems to be a single individual as far as I can tell. What's the point of anything then? I think IP editing should be permanently restricted on this page. This is the last time I will invest any of my time trying to bring the article up to Wikipedia's standards. Thank you. Mosesheron (talk) 22:00, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

Temporary semi-protection: Persistent sockpuppetry – After a block of a Russian speaking user https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Quebite they editing logged out with a Russian ip. Shadow4dark (talk) 22:25, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

Current requests for reduction in protection level

[edit]
Request unprotection of a page, or reducing the protection level

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin at their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

  • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page" which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
  • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
  • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
  • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected please use the section below.
Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

Current requests for edits to a protected page

[edit]
Request a specific edit to a protected page
Please request an edit directly on the protected page's talk page before posting here

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

  • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
  • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Wikipedia:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
  • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Wikipedia:Requested moves, not here.
  • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
  • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

I would like to request that... (Please consider reversing the recent revision made by the User:Gokul BM. The change in range was made without supporting sources, which has affected the accuracy of the ranking.https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_highest-grossing_South_Indian_films&diff=1246147282&oldid=1246147073&variant=en https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=List_of_highest-grossing_South_Indian_films&diff=1246147073&oldid=1246002411&variant=en) . W170924 (talk) 19:30, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

Not done. I don't see any supporting sources given for any of those numbers in the entire table, so there is no reason to believe that the previous version was more correct than the current version. If you have an issue with a recent edit, then discuss it with that editor. ~Anachronist (talk) 19:53, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
@Anachronist Also, I don’t understand what you meant by 'I don’t see any supporting sources given for any of those numbers in the entire table,' as the Highest-grossing films table is properly sourced except for the entries manipulated by this user. Am I wrong? Did I miss anything? W170924 (talk) 20:49, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
@Anachronist Pardon me, but to be specific, the ranges changed as follows:

Varisu: ₹290–293 to ₹290–310

Kabali: ₹284–305 to ₹284–499

Beast: ₹227–240 to ₹217–300

Mersal: ₹220 to ₹200–260

Note that before the change, the figures were supported by the references provided in the corresponding ref fields. The new ranges, however, contradict the references because the user did not provide any sources to back their claim. Why is there no consideration of this discrepancy?W170924 (talk) 20:10, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

In the subsection of the section "Non-jewish support" titled "Muslim support", it is stated that Al-Jamāʻah al-islāmīyah is considered a terrorist organization by the US. The US no longer considers Al-Jamāʻah al-islāmīyah a terrorist organisation since 2022. This can be replaced by stating that it is considered a terrorist organization by the UK. Guessbuckets (talk) 19:35, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

Not done. That isn't what the cited source says (which appears to be out of date). Please specify exactly what the text should say, and what source it should cite. ~Anachronist (talk) 19:47, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
OK, sorry about that.
Replace
"an Islamist militant group that is designated as a terrorist organization by the United States and European Union,"
(Removing the source as well; it's outdated.)
with
"an Islamist militant group that is designated as a terrorist organization by the European Union and United Kingdom,"
and adding the sources
https://eur-lex.europa.eu/eli/dec/2024/2056/oj (for the EU)
and
https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/proscribed-terror-groups-or-organisations--2/proscribed-terrorist-groups-or-organisations-accessible-version#list-of-proscribed-international-terrorist-groups (for the UK)
The two sources I added are up to date. The one source listed in the current version is out of date, and the current version also states that the US considers it a terrorist org which is both unsourced and no longer the case.
Thanks! Guessbuckets (talk) 20:32, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

Been on Wikipedia for a few years now. Mainly created BLPs. Requesting for autopatrolled rights to reduce the backlog of new page patrollers. I declare that I've understood verifiability, notability and copyrights. SerChevalerie (talk) 21:21, 25 August 2024 (UTC)

Okay, the user's talk page history is back. This can now be evaluated normally. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 08:12, 27 August 2024 (UTC)
I don't see any problems with your creations but as the rate is relatively low (last 25 takes us back to 2018), there will be minimal benefit to NPP in autopatrolling them.  Not done for now, but thank you for thinking of the backlog. – Joe (talk) 09:19, 16 September 2024 (UTC)
Thanks. SerChevalerie (talk) 10:07, 16 September 2024 (UTC)

Created 407 articles, and only 2 were deleted—1 was soft deleted earlier in 2022, and the latest one was deleted per WP:A10, which is not a major issue. 99.5% or 405 of his articles are still live. Requesting access for updating census data of highly populated Indian villages in Kerala state and other human settlements on this planet in future. Pachu Kannan (talk) 10:12, 4 September 2024 (UTC)

I would like access to AWB to fix CheckWiki issues more efficiently than I currently do using WPCleaner. I also want to streamline typo fixing as part of WP:TYPO. I understand I have been denied it twice in the recent past, but I strongly believe that I am fit for getting the permission now, as I gained significantly more experience and done more constructive edits.  Automated comment This user has had 2 requests for autowikibrowser declined in the past 90 days ([1][2]). MusikBot talk 14:10, 9 September 2024 (UTC)

I would like to use AWB's Checkwiki functionality to alter position of references with respect to punctuation and incorrect ISBNs as I am frequently revising pages that need reference issue support; use find and replace for music album title issues; and use AWB for assistance on creating and correcting items and links within categories of music genres, domestic flag information, and public parks. Thank you. Shotgunheist💬 19:49, 11 September 2024 (UTC)

Improve articles' layouts, correcting Spanish settlement infoboxes, changing IPA-va (depricated) to IPA|ca-valencia, adding IPA, correcting links, etc. I had AWB rights in the past, however I stopped using Wikipedia due to COVID-19. Now I am fully recovered and would like to carry on improving things here and there. Thank you. Nuvolet (talk) 20:23, 11 September 2024 (UTC) Nuvolet (talk) 20:23, 11 September 2024 (UTC)

Requesting access to clean up a relatively long list of redirects that were left after a page move. RachelTensions (talk) 13:36, 16 September 2024 (UTC)

Not done. You do not meet the minimum requirements for AWB access (250 non-automated main space edits or 500 total main space edits). Also not clear what type of changes you'd be looking to make. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:06, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
As mentioned, a page was moved and there is now a long list of articles that refer to the article and link to it at its previous location. I assume these should be cleaned up and not left as-is as redirects. I think looking at my contributions and the lack of reversions or contentious edits would demonstrate that I'm not about to go crazy here. RachelTensions (talk) 17:36, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

Can i please have extended confirmed rights back. I lost it because one day when i had a little less than 500 edits, i made about 45-55 edits in one hour in order to get to 500 edits. Im new to this site and didn't know gaming edits was against the rules. Ever since i lost the extended confirmed thing, I've made hundreds of edits i think are constructive and i stopped vandalism a few times and have a much better understanding of the rules. extended confirmed rights HumansRightsIsCool (talk) 21:59, 3 September 2024 (UTC)

Requests for new page reviewer

New page reviewer

[edit]

I want to be able to branch out and explore different aspects of Wikipedia, as article creation does tend to get boring nowadays. I have made 340 pages, 4 of which were deleted (all 4 were from June or earlier). I have no track record of incivility that I am aware of besides a heated conflict back in April, and am a host at the Teahouse. I have commented or voted on ~45 AfDs, and have sent several of my articles through AfC, and I know how the policies work there. If possible, I'd also like to request just a 1-month trial, as I want to see what the tool is like before I commit to it. I was hoping to participate in the NPP Sep. backlog drive, since I missed the last one. I have some article writing experience, and regularly interact with newcomers during RC patrolling. I also have a decent AfD nomination ratio, with the same being true of my CSD log. Overall, I think I would make a useful addition to the NPP team, and hope to be trusted with this responsibility. Kingsmasher678 (talk) 01:10, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

Besides a few articles and redirects that I sometimes create, I often help others with improving and reviewing their drafts and newly created articles. If I could then mark the articles as reviewed and use the other review tools, this work would be even more effective. Thanks. Killarnee (talk) 17:41, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

Done for a two-month trial. Please re-apply roughly a week before the perm is set to expire and remember to check out WP:NPPSORT. Hey man im josh (talk) 18:17, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

Requests for pending changes reviewer

Pending changes reviewer

[edit]

I have reviewed the criteria for receiving this permission, and feel my contribution history demonstrates an adequate knowledge of creating, expanding, and patrolling articles in accordance to Wikipedia policies. Tvfunhouse (talk) 00:54, 7 September 2024 (UTC)

Hello hello, I have been a Wikipedian for well over 4 months now, and I feel that I have learned a great many things about the site in terms of editing, content, policies, and conduct that I could have never imagined beforehand. If given this right, I humbly commit to using it to the utmost competent and fair / legitimate nature that I possibly can. Thank you Aliy Dawut (talk) 02:52, 13 September 2024 (UTC)

I have been contributing to pages for three years now, with prior experience in patrolling edit filter log. I would like to get reviewer rights so I can contribute to Wikipedia in more ways than I am able to, presently, and help with the backlog. Since my last request in July, I've been making a track record of communicating collegially with other editors, in my talk page and elsewhere. I hope you'll consider me. Thank you. — ‎‎‎hhypeboyh 💬✏️ 23:11, 13 September 2024 (UTC)

I have 16 months experience in editing Wikipedia. I wish to contribute whole lot of my time for betterment of Wikipedia and reduce the backlog in all possible ways that I can. As an initial step towards it, I am applying for granting this user right, so I can use it to improve pages in Wikipedia. Thank You! Mischellemougly (talk) 09:15, 14 September 2024 (UTC)
Requests for rollback

Rollback

[edit]

Hello! I recently applied for rollback and withdrew my request after realizing that I was below the required 200 main space edit count. Now, I have 206 main space edits (mostly anti-vandalism work) as well as a month of experience. I would like access to rollback in order to use tools like Huggle and Anti-Vandal to revert vandalism more quickly. During my very first efforts to revert vandalism, I did fail to warn some users as I did not have access to RedWarn or Twinkle and had not yet read the related policies. Shortly after that, I read WP:VANDAL. Now, I believe I have since built a strong track record of warning the user every time I revert their edits and reverting only when appropriate. Thanks! Hello hello, I have been a strongly active and, I believe, positive contributor to Wikipedia for over 4 months now, and have throughly enjoyed my time editing and undoing vandalism/unconstructive edits whenever I see them. I have not reverted a *ton* of vandalism, but I do believe that I have at least demonstrated by ability to discern and do so, as well as doing my best as of recently to notify users when I revert their edits. Moreover, I commit to using this right fairly, constructively, and honestly if given it. Thanks Aliy Dawut (talk) 02:30, 15 September 2024 (UTC)

Not done I reviewed your contributions and found little to no recent anti-vandalism work. If you're still interested in this tool then please spend at least a month actively patrolling RecentChanges (Twinkle & Ultraviolet can help with that) before reapplying. Also, please ensure that you are consistently warning editors when you revert their edits. Thanks, Fastily 02:38, 15 September 2024 (UTC)
Understood Aliy Dawut (talk) 02:42, 15 September 2024 (UTC)
Also I’m sure you noticed but I am also requesting the Pending Changes Reviewer permission, I think that would significantly help me in patrolling / doing anti vandalism as well. Since you are an admin, could you look into that request of mine? I would appreciate it Aliy Dawut (talk) 02:46, 15 September 2024 (UTC)

I have been cleaning up vandalism mostly with the help of Twinkle. I was granted temporary rollback rights in 2021 but then life got busy and I didn't seek an extension. I now have more time to dedicate to counter-vandalism efforts again. ClaudineChionh (she/her · talk · contribs · email) 13:05, 15 September 2024 (UTC)

Hello!

I have been guiding new users against Vandalism for a while now and this is done mostly offline.however, recently my passion for more onwiki contribution grew and I signed up as a host on Wikipedia Teahouse where I have been guiding new editors, I will like to request the right to roll back edit in order to do more of onwiki tasks and ease the work of admins. Alright, thank you Tesleemah (talk) 21:17, 16 September 2024 (UTC)

I would like to have rollback because vandalism on wikipedia is always high and it is important to have people looking out for potential vandals, and lower this. I will not give mercy unless it is a good faith edit and will make sure to always warn users, as I am doing right now with the help of Ultraviolet.  Not done. Sorry, but you do not meet the minimum requirements for the perm, which include 200 mainspace edits. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:12, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
It says I have 400 edits? Not 69? What is a mainspace edit difference from a normal edit?? Cooldudeseven7 (Discuss over a cup of tea?) 17:12, 17 September 2024 (UTC)
A mainspace edit is (bit of oversimplication) an edit to an actual, live Wikipedia article, as opposed to a user's talk page, this page (in the Wikipedia) namespace, or something else. See WP:MAINSPACE. Sincerely, Guessitsavis (she/they) (Talk) 17:25, 17 September 2024 (UTC)

Reason for requesting rollback rights: I have over 800 edits, most of which are on the main space. I am aware I have a somewhat lousy history with giving proper edit summaries, as i didn't fill out revision summaries, but I have tried to rectify it. I was also involved in a dispute which might have been classified as an edit war back in April. Other then that I have a clean slate. Thanks for considering. "Do you want to take a survey?"

    [edit]

On Feb. 12, 2005, I did a random pages survey. Out of 100 random pages, only 1 was a U.S. town. That's progress. Three towns in the UK, 1 in Spain and 1 in Portugal also turned up. Overall biographies were the largest category at 22%, followed by geography with 15% total. Then Lists at 7%, Disambiguation pages at 6%.

On Feb. 24, 2006, I repeated the 100 random page survey, this time getting 5 U.S. towns. Overall, geography had 26%, biography 21%, fiction 9%, music 4%, colleges 4%, lists 3% and disambigs 4%. Clearly geography and biography are our largest areas. Music, science and business scored less than I expected. Non-individual History was hardly discernable.

Even by Feb. 2005, 100 out of almost 500,000 was not statistically significant but was as much as I had patience for.

More recently 1,250 or so edits on 75.41.110.200 are apparently all mine. Apparently my new ID is 75.41.109.190. There are undoubtedly many others as the earliest history of many articles was not preserved by the software.
