America's oldest school newspaper?

[edit]

The claim that the Black and Red is "America's oldest school newspaper" seems unlikely, because Jack London published stories in Oakland High School's The High School Aegis, before Hannibal High School was founded. His first was published on January 18, 1895, and it was in Volume X of the Aegis, suggesting that the Aegis was founded in 1885. The Aegis appears to have been biweekly. It can be argued that it was a magazine rather than a newspaper, but the existence of a ten-year-old high school periodical in 1895 certainly makes one suspect that there must have been many others and at least some of them must have been newspapers. Unless good evidence for the claim can be presented, the sentence should read "one of America's oldest high school newspapers" or "a very old high school newspaper." Actually, the Black and Red claims to be the oldest school newspaper done in a classroom setting. You will find that this is indeed true.

Wow, if this page doesn't read like a tourism brochure I don't know what does. It barely resembles an encyclopedia entry.76.80.1.51 05:43, 9 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unwanted text

[edit]

When you hover your mouse cursor over a link to Hannibal, Missouri, unwanted text shows up. From what I can tell it is vandalism added March 3, 2022, and it was supposedly removed the same day. However, the text still shows up now, 5 days later, for some reason. FreeToDisagree (talk) 19:42, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

He is well known by locals to live just outside the city limits on the South side of town.
His LLC info clearly lists a Hannibal, Missouri address.
