Talk:List of MPs for Wales
Move
[edit]I didn't think when I added the new list of MPs that I should probably archive the MPs for the 53rd parliament.
If possible, the page as of 2005-02-20T22:39Z (inc. history previous to then) should be moved to List of MPs for Wales in the fifty-third parliament retrospectively. Else, I will do a copy-and-paste move with an explanation on Talk: List of MPs for Wales in the fifty-third parliament.

- You mean this version? That could be a bit tricky... it would require reverting to the old version, moving, and then copy-paste moving back. As you (and a few anons) are the only contributors after that diff, a copy-paste by yourself back here after the move should be OK.
- BTW, are there previous lists (eg. List of MPS of Wales in the fifty-second parliament)? And shouldn't the numbers be capitalised? Alphax τεχ 01:00, 13 May 2005 (UTC)
- No, because this is the first time that there has been an election where this article has existed.
- No; they're not proper nouns (see Wikipedia: Naming_conventions#Lowercase second and subsequent words)

- And shouldn't it be "53rd"? I mean, you turn numbers above ten from words into digits in writing, but I'm not sure if that rule applies to Wikipedia... Master Thief Garrett 01:46, 15 May 2005 (UTC)
- No. According to Wikipedia: Manual of Style (dates and numbers)#Number names, it is at ones discretion but one should ensure consistency. I suggested the full form (with an appropriate redirect, of course) as this is used for ordinals in other article titles (in particular all the ones refering to the nth parliament of the UK).

- Actually that is not entirely true. There really is not a clear precedent so I will go with 'arabic' numerals as they are shorter and more obvious.

As said above, only a developer can split an article and I don't think it's particularly worthwhile. Just copy/paste the current status to the required new article and consider moving this to another one – List of MPs for Wales can then be a redirect to the most recent one, thus making it better for future updates. violet/riga (t) 11:26, 15 May 2005 (UTC)
- Will do.
