Please clarify where the papal images come from? We need to know, and need to have an indication of copyright, to protect wikipedia from legal prosecution for breach of copyright. They look as though they may be from the Holy See website. If they are, please remember that we cannot automatically take them. We could make some fair use argument but only if we could not find a free to use alternative. In the case of a number of the images you replaced, we could use them. As you did not give a source for the images, and they looked as if they were simply taken from the Vatican website, I had to restore the original image.
Don't worry if you did not know the legal limitations that wikipedia has to use in using images. A lot of people don't. (I didn't when I first came here.) But there are strict rules to protect yourself and ourselves from breaching copyright law. But if we can establish that legally we can use some of your images, we may well do. To establish that we need however to know where they came from. FearÉIREANN 02:27, 28 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- Hi, I've listed the papal images, uploaded by you five months ago, for deletion as they are no longer used anywhere and their source was not stated. I hope this is OK by you. –Mysid (talk) 07:40, September 12, 2005 (UTC)
