[edit]

A lot of the bio text is copied from the official website. Is that OK? And, in any case, does it read right for the wiki? My feeling is no, it doesn't, fwiw. Modesitt's humour about himself is fine when it's his site but reads oddly when repeated 3rd-party by us. --82.35.17.203 23:29, 13 Jul 2004 (UTC)

Where is it copied from? - Tεxτurε 23:32, 13 Jul 2004 (UTC)

agreed about tone of article

[edit]

Are there any references for the recurring themes section? (I checked out the references, but not the external links.) Anyway, it needs to be referenced, as otherwise it really looks like original research. Is anyone actively mantaining it? Apwith (talk) 11:30, 6 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree about the tone of the article. It's better than nothing, but it would be better to reword it into something more dry, but more technically accurate. More encyclopedic. :-)

I will have a go at making it closer to they style you want. I will also update the bibliography. - Kvetch, 25 March, 21:22 GMT (Sorry, cannot work out how to get my name and date into standard form)

date of release

[edit]

Is there any reason to keep the date of release for "Soarer's Choice" more specific than just the year (like everything else listed on the page)? ~Gertlex 18:28, 14 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Recurring themes, technologies, and organizations

[edit]

This section is ridiculous; I mean, really, did someone make that list as a parody of similar lists in other articles -- it's hard to imagine it was intended seriously. I mean come on, "Love of food" and "Overheard conversations"? LMAO. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.229.55.38 (talk) 05:55, 13 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I agree. That list could be developed into a fuller article on his works, or a theory about a unified universe for his series, but in its existing state it seems amateurish and detracts from the page. Removed it.Dagothchicken (talk) 01:58, 28 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Recluce order

[edit]

Someone at 203.45.15.68 added a note to the effect that LEM thinks the Recluce series should be read in publication order, not in order of their fictional chronology. I removed it, partly because it made the section head into an essay! However, I can't help wondering if it shouldn't somehow be mentioned. Is it documented somewhere? Indeed, it almost makes me wonder it the list shouldn't just be in publication order anyway: where does the list in fictional chronological order come from, is it good for the article, and is there a risk it's a bit OR-ish if it's not published elsewhere? I'd be very interested to know what others think. (And I wonder if the "Ecolitan Institute" books are not subject to the same issue?) Best wishes DBaK (talk) 07:40, 13 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
