Talk:Litany of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Untitled
[edit]This is the text of the Litany. But does anybody have any info about its history, background, etc etc ?? JackofOz 11:47, 16 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- Working on it as fast as I can! --Puffy jacket 11:59, 16 Jun 2004 (UTC)
- This is a good source of information: http://www.viarosa.com/VR/Loreto/Rosaries.html This is the version I know, which includes JPII's "Mother of the Church" and "Queen of the Family" (added accordingly). I removed "Queen of the World"; I haven't seen that used elsewhere (link?) -- ronyu02
Title redirect
[edit]I kept looking for the Litany of Loreto (or Loretto, still not sure which is correct) and under the Search it didn't come up at all! Can someone make a Litany of Loreto and/or a Litany of Loretto page that redirects to this one? I looked at the Help pages but couldn't figure out how to do it.
"Historical criticism"
[edit]"Historical criticism posits it to have been composed during the early years of the 16th century or the closing years of the 15th."
There is no citation for this, and it's unclear how historical criticism differs from the theories earlier in that paragraph. More generally, what exactly is historical criticism, as opposed to, say, history? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 108.221.57.236 (talk) 16:03, 18 December 2013 (UTC)

[edit]It was added the following statement:
In the latter case, for example, they can form the main element of a celebration of prayer to the Most Blessed Virgin, be a processional song, or form part of a celebration of the Word of God.

Latin text
[edit]It has been added the original Latin text of the Litany since it was born as a Latin prayer and some readers may prefer to know and to pray Litany in its original language.
The English and Latin versions are not perfectly aligned. I apologize for that, hoping that someone helps to correct this error. 79.21.121.119 (talk) 21:44, 24 October 2024 (UTC)
