From other sources I learn that a Sikkim king Phyag-rdor rNam-rgyal, born in 1686, invented the Lepcha alphabet in the 1720s. How does he fit in with the history here? Could he be Chadok Namgyal? Evertype 13:04, 2005 May 31 (UTC)

I read long ago that India undermined the monarchy, so that Sikkim would no longer be able to govern intself and would acquiesce to annexation. Is there any truth to that? Dvd Avins 01:17, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

the artcile didn't state how india formally absorb sikkim after it became a nation from the british empire, can we have some india history on this? 218.186.12.8 (talk) 00:17, 15 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]

doesn't this article make you feel that Sikkim was annexed by India forcefully against the will of the people of the state, giving a criminal Character to India while deliberately undermining the fact that Sikkim was absorbed in union of India after a valid referendum? This article is Biased, at many-a-places the Nepalese are mentioned as 'Criminals'. i'd suggest to bring more facts in the say rather than making baseless accusations.--Samitus mallicus 10:18, 20 April 2010 (UTC) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Samitus mallicus (talkcontribs)

Ironic that Sikkim should be condemned as a puppet state of Britain - particularly actually it wasn't a puppet state. What would be so bad about that anyway, surely it is better than being invaded and annexed by India - which is what happened in 1975. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.197.15.138 (talk) 00:20, 14 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Conquering of Sikkim

[edit]

I do remember the events as reported in the newspapers when Sikkim was taken over by India.

Indian armymen were sent inside in the guise of help train the soldiers there. I feel that there was some bitterness created by the Indian side. And they suddenly took over the palace. And the royal family was kept in custody.

The PM of India of that time was continuing her father's policy of Hindi imperialism. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.96.24.131 (talk) 08:42, 12 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
