Hi Machaon, am sorry abt losing my cool on seeing the article but I did not understand the objective of having an article in duplicate. Following Bhadani's comments, I believe that the article must exist and possibly be renamed. Thanks for creating the article and I hope it will be expanded shortly (I have plans to expand it in the next week). And thanks a ton for adding a couple of german references with english text on Pandurang Vaman Kane. --Gurubrahma 11:32, 2 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

- and a happy new year to you, Machaon. Differences enrich Wikipedia, and you're never so careful as when you are being contradicted. Polite and educated disagreement is the lifeblood of Wikipedia. I hope to see you around, happy editing, dab () 16:34, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Happy new year to you too Machaeon. I hope you have a good year ahead of you, and continue to participate here, since the fairmindedness you have always shown is sorely needed. Paul B 22:41, 1 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ambedkar

[edit]

Hi, the passages you cite from Ambedkar are part of an article in which he is attacking the idea of a distinct Aryan race of caucasians. All his arguments are against the idea of an intrusion of White People attacking Black People. He does not deny that Indo-Aryan culture arose from peoples who entered india from the outside. He accepts the fact in other writings. Part of the problem here is the inclusiveness of the term "Aryan Invasion Theory", so it is not possible to clearly define who "agrees" with it and who "disagrees", since the same term may mean different things in different contexts. The fact that Hindutva writers just merge all forms of intrusionist models together under the label "AIT" leads to a lot of the confusion, I think. Paul B 15:21, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, yes I've read the whole article. Did you read the whole article from the Dalit Voice, the last sentence of which is "Ambedkar supported it" - "it" being AIT. Anyway, the point is that Ambedkar denied that an Aryan race had entered India, as I said, but I'm not an expert on Ambedkar either, and the Dalit Voice is not always very reliable! So I will try to get a more thorough account of A's views as they changed over time. Thank for pointing to the issues. Paul B 17:08, 10 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
