The police action in Czech Tek per se did not left one person dead. The participant of Czech Tek was knocked down by a truck when he was leaving the party. So it was not death caused directly by police forces.
Resemblance
[edit]Whoever expands this stub should point out that Paroubek is considered a spitting image of Mayor Quimby from the Simpsons [1]. Mwalcoff 07:20, 27 Apr 2005 (UTC)
- This was here, but was removed. I do not consider the removal to be a good thing, as public perception of the image of a political figure has a big impact on its future success, and even informal public moods should be documented, if marked as such. If possible from all the camps involved. --Shaddack 16:39, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Should pre-vote "intriques" be here or not?
[edit]Pavel Vozenilek removed quite a lot of content from the article - the two paragraphs below and the joke section. While I actually agree with removing the joke, I am not sure about the rest - at least the first paragraph seems quite notable to me. Both paragraps below are originally my edits, I am personally "bound" to them, that's why I don't just put them back but request your opinion here. Can anybody express their opinion on this? Thanks. Matt ෙ 17:58, 15 May 2005 (UTC)
- Paroubek's creation of a new government was right from the beginning made difficult by two threats. The first was a promise to President Václav Klaus to ask for a confidence vote at the parliament within one month of Paroubek's appointment. (In a strictly legal sence this condition was not based in the constitution and as thus was not binding for the new Prime Minister. However the promise had been made by Stanislav Gross during the government crisis in exchange for the right of the ČSSD to try to create a third government in one electoral term.)
- The second threat emerged from inside the ČSSD itself, as several "rebellious" members of the party (namely Jan Kavan and Vladimír Laštůvka) were at first hesitant about the support for the government during the confidence vote. Kavan and Laštůvka said they wanted to see more influence from the ČSSD in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is now led by Cyril Svoboda, a member of the coalition KDU-ČSL party. The rebels dropped their opposition after the conclusion of an agreement that requires Svoboda's top deputy to be a member of the ČSSD.
- Keeping such details would fill book or two (and these "intriques" are forgotten, instead new ones are being hatched now). Encyclopedia should contain summary information like what were reasons that allowed survival of current goverment, not details for tabloid readers, IMHO. Pavel Vozenilek 23:10, 15 May 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks, yes, on the other hand, Wikipedia is not paper, so why should we limit ourselves? Moreover, the fact that a non-standard confidence vote "had" to be taken seems quite important to me. But I won't push it over until anyone else says it's needed too. Matt ෙ 07:03, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
- Attention of readers, time they have to read text and ability writers to maintain content valid are all limited resources. Perhaps different structure of Wikipedia - hierachical content and stable pages. Pavel Vozenilek 09:51, 16 May 2005 (UTC)

- Time of readers can be saved by putting both the political details and public perception of the figure in question to separate subsections. Think about people doing historical research in politics. Time of maintainers should not be a problem, as when something happens, it does not unhappen, even if removed, so it maintaining history is not a moving target, unlike maintaining the present. Besides, bits are cheap today.--Shaddack 16:40, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- To make long story shorter: I come here during cleanup after Emperor of Moravia and saw the two paragraphs I didn't like (I usually avoid touching new events). I do not have strong opinion on them so if you think they should not be here I won't edit article again. Pavel Vozenilek 17:28, 16 May 2005 (UTC)
- (And btw thanks for the page about characters with diacritics. It saves me a lot of time as I was lazy to create sometyhing of my own. Pavel Vozenilek 17:43, 16 May 2005 (UTC))
Lock
[edit]What about to lock this (often vandalised) article for new or anonymous users? The same kind of lock like for example here. Szalas
Why is it not here?

Removed a part
[edit]I removed the next part: "In the giving votes of confidence to the tri- coalition after the election, he and the party leadership forbade their parliament members from casting ballets. Each parliament member from ČSSD had to show a blank voting ballet, proving he did not vote." The vote of confidence has not happened yet, it was the elections of the Parliament leadership instead. BTW I think major part of the article is higly biased and urgently needs propper sourcing... Okino 20:01, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
Well, sorry,I forgot, their bickering is all the same for me.And that information was presented in the media (and because I don't upload every news on the telly,I don't have a clue how to varify it. To the quotation after the elections-he did say it,I saw it on TV myself. The other parts have also been presented in the Czech media.New Babylon.
- I understand, but it is necessary to quote the sources of such information and avoid using formulations like "was also generally accused" (by who?), "he was critised" (by who?), "led many people to suppose" (what many people?). These formulations are in direct conflict with Wikipedia formal rules (see Wikipedia Help. P.S. I can argument it better in Czech, if necessary... Okino 13:43, 11 September 2006 (UTC))

- I live in Czech Republic, too. But I don't want to discuss the matter of the topic, but the form of it, as it is in conflict with Wikipedia formal rules - the content must be verifiable, which is not this case, unless the propper sourcing is immediatelly added. The discussed parts of the article should even be matter of deletion, when improperly sourced. The "general meaning in my surroundings" is not a propper source at all! The official Wikipedia policy says: "Weasel words are words or phrases that seemingly support statements without attributing opinions to verifiable sources. Weasel words give the force of authority to a statement without letting the reader decide if the source of the opinion is reliable. If a statement can't stand on its own without weasel words, it lacks neutral point of view; either a source for the statement should be found, or the statement should be removed." (see Wikipedia:Avoid weasel words) So please add a propper sourcing or drop the weasel-worded statements.

Young communists
[edit]- The picture is about socialistic party, not communist party
- Picture is fake - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordon_Freeman - i dont thing our former prime minister was friend of main character of Half Life (Gorden Freeman, Ph.D. from Seattle)... http://www.dostparoubka.cz/bratr_paroubek_o_viteznem_unoru.htm -- here is most probably original version, on the left picture is Jaroslav Kral from Prague (the text in box is also changed in the last sentence to support presence of Freeman)
--Tutchek 00:27, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- True, true, surely fake. --Alaiche 20:51, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
Copy edit
[edit]The quote attributed in the second paragraph of "Role in the Czech legaslative election, 2006" needs fixing. I am not at all familiar with Czech however but the existing translation could be considered engrish at best. It almost appears to have been run through a google translator tool word by word.
Last paragraph of the written content - 9th september of what? 2006? Please fix.
